What to Expect
The Dahlia Market is a celebration of all things dahlias, pumpkins, apples, and locally made. Browse fresh-cut dahlias, seasonal produce, apple- and pumpkin-inspired foods and products, artisan goods, fall décor, and thoughtfully curated vendors.
You’ll also find educational opportunities, featured farm booths, Indiana Peony Festival merchandise, and a limited selection of curated peony roots available for pre-order.
Whether you’re shopping for your kitchen, your garden, or simply looking for a festive fall Saturday outing, the Dahlia Market offers something for gardeners, food lovers, and families alike. Stay tuned—more details and special activities will be announced soon!
Dahlia Stem Contest
Inspired by one of the Indiana Peony Festival’s most beloved traditions—the Peony Stem Contest—our Dahlia Stem Contest celebrates the beauty and uniqueness of locally grown dahlias.
Bring the dahlia stem you’re most proud of, whether it’s perfectly symmetrical, delightfully quirky, dinner-plate-sized, petite, vibrant, soft and subtle, or anything in between. Each entry should consist of one dahlia stem, but participants are welcome to enter as many times as they’d like.
Entries will be judged on appearance, with our market goers voting on their favorite stem they believe stands out from the rest. It’s a fun celebration of the dahlias—and the growers behind them—that make us stop and stare.
The winner will receive a prize, plenty of bragging rights, and the title of this year’s winning Dahlia Stem. Additional contest details and entry information will be announced closer to the event.
Bring a Recipe, Take a Recipe
Help us create a community cookbook—one recipe at a time.
Bring along a favorite apple- or pumpkin-inspired recipe to share, whether it’s a treasured family recipe or a new seasonal favorite. Simply print it out or write it down by hand, leave it at our exchange station, and browse recipes contributed by fellow market guests to take home.
From apple pies, crisps and homemade apple butter to pumpkin breads, soups, baked goods and creative savory dishes, it’s a wonderful way to discover fresh inspiration while celebrating the flavors of fall. Afterward, shop the market for seasonal finds to help bring your newest recipe to life at home.
